George Edward Gray III {known professionally as George Gray} (born March 11, 1967, in Ballwin, Missouri) is an American game show host, announcer, and comedian.

Early Life[]

He attended High School in Tucson, Arizona, and graduated from the University of Arizona, during which time he played drums with a local band named The Reason Why with two of his friends. He then began working as a sketch and a stand-up comedian and soon landed his first hosting gig for the Fox Movie Channel doing a show called FXM Friday Nights, from there he moved on to co-host the long-running series Movies for Guys Who Like Movies on TBS. Gray created and co-hosted the sketch comedy show A Guy Walks Into a Bar with the late former star of the 80s-90s NBC sitcom Cheers George Wendt (Wendt would pass away on May 20, 2025 due to cardiac arrest).

Early Career[]

George landed his in-studio show in the late 1990s, Extreme Gong, an updated version of The Gong Show, on the Game Show Network (or GSN). He also hosted the first season of the American version of Junkyard Wars, which earned a Primetime Emmy nomination.

Hosting Career[]

George is perhaps best known for hosting the syndicated, half-hour version of the American version of The Weakest Link from 2002-2003. TV critics liked Gray's hosting style, to the demeanor of a "class clown" in contrast to the "severe schoolmarm" attitude of Anne Robinson, who hosted the British version and the primetime hour-long version of the show, which was airing on NBC at the time. 19 years later, the show was once rebooted again on NBC now hosted by actress Jane Lynch until 2024, the show later moved to FOX in 2025 as an all-star format called Celebrity Weakest Link.

George then went on to host the reality TV Shows Todd TV on FX and National Lampoon's Greek Games on GSN as well as co-hosting NBC's $25 Million Dollar Hoax and then ESPN's reality sports competition I'd Do Anything. In 2006, George hosted the HGTV show What's With That House ? (aka That House) as well as HGTV's Man Land and the building competition Summer Showdown.

Announcing Career[]

In 2010, The Price is Right was on the hunt for a new, permanent announcer after previous announcer Rich Fields (since 2004) had left. George began appearing in a rotating circle of intern announcers which included JD Roberto, Steve White, Brad Sherwood, and Jeff Davis. On April 18, 2011, he was announced as the fourth permanent announcer on the show. Executive producer Mike Richards stated that he wanted an improv comedian to interact with the host Drew Carey and George fit the bill perfectly. In 2018, he overtook Rich Fields as the third longest tenured announcer in the program's history.

The Price is Right Come on Down Tour![]

In 2022, George appeared in the mobile coast to coast tour[1][2]along with current Price host Drew Carey and male model Devin Goda at New York City as part of a special weekend event along with the celebration of Carey's 15th season as host called PaleyWKND sponsored by the Paley Center for Media located on West 52nd Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue in Manhattan. This was in celebration of the show's 50th Anniversary at the time. The event started on October 1, 2022.

George has made cameo appearances on episodes such as The Young and the Restless[1], The Bold and the Beautiful[2][3], Watching Ellie and Scorpion.

Other Work[]

George is active in philanthropic causes and has been honored to serve as co-host of the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Telethon and regularly lends his time to other events to support Muscular Dystrophy research including the annual LOVE RIDE fundraiser with numerous celebrities and thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts.

Health Problems[]

On April 25, 2020, it was reported by TMZ[1]that George had suffered from multiple Heart Attacks three times in a row but was in full recovery during that week. George (53) was transported to the hospital on Monday after experiencing chest pains as he suffered from a heart attack on the way to the hospital. After the first one, doctors inserted a stent to restore blood flow in one of his arteries. The stent failed as George had a second heart attack as a second stent was then inserted to increase blood flow, but it failed as well. George suffered from a third heart attack while on the operating table.

Personal Life[]

George married high school math teacher Brittney Green on April 13, 2019[1]. However, after five years of marriage, George divorced Green on January 21, 2025, citing "irreconcilable differences"[2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. TMZ also acquired the legal documents which revealed that the pair separated on August 1, 2024. Furthermore, they gave an update on the divorce case, stating that Gray and Green's mutual decision to get separated. Currently, the pair are taking counseling sessions in order to work on their marriage and might have to continue the same for six months as per California Law. In case the issues are fixed, they can reconcile and cancel the divorce. Gray and Green have no children together.

Trivia[]

  • George often states "Hi Mama Mai!" when introduced by Drew at the start of every show, starting in early 2014. In fact, she has made a guest appearance and said the traditional catchphrase, during the May 9, 2014 episode, for the show's Mother's Day Special.
  • While George may not appear in showcase themes or skits, he does occasionally fill in the shoes of "the third model", assisting in games such as Swap Meet and Most Expensive.
  • On the April 1, 2013 episode, he and Drew Carey traded places with the models, the models rotated between hosting and announcing stints while Drew and George modeled the prizes.
  • In a 2017 Halloween episode where the cast portrayed superhero organization "The Prize League", George portrayed The Plinkster, in which he'd toss Plinko chips while making announcements. However, Plinko was not one of the games played on the episode.
