Season 42 (2013-2014)[]

Pricing game calendar for Season 42, hosted by Scorpz.

Week 1 (1,641 – 642xK): October 18, 16, 14, 17, 15

  • Originally scheduled for September 23-27.
  • Originally rescheduled for October 14-18.
  • This week is billed as "Big Money Week," with a game in the first half of each episode offering an augmented or unusually expensive prize:
    • On Monday, Plinko is played for $500,000, with the center slot's value increased to $100,000.
    • On Tuesday, Cliff Hangers is played for $250,000 in cash, with $10,000 being deducted from the total for every step the mountain climber takes up the mountain; this has the side effect of making it impossible to outright win the game if the contestant makes any mistakes.
    • On Wednesday, 1/2 Off is played for $100,000.
    • On Thursday, 6-digit Golden Road is played.
    • On Friday, Triple Play is played with cars that would normally only be offered in 3 Strikes or Golden Road.
  • On this week's shows, "Big Money Week" appears at the base of the logo on Door #4, and dollar bills cascade down the door.
  • On Monday, Adam Sandler becomes the show's director.
  • On Monday, the pink light border is introduced, as are its spinning dollar signs.
  • Beginning on Monday, the logo is visible onscreen at the top of the show; it flies away almost immediately, spins back in at the usual time right behind a graphic of the Big Wheel, and the splits apart along with the Big Doors during Drew's entrance. An alternate version of the new logo that shows a color array on its side is used in the mid-show bumper, and the slightly reformatted logo itself also appears on Door #4 and at the end of the credits.
  • On Monday, the Goodson-Todman asterisks on the Big Doors and the Turntable are given a fatter appearance.
  • On Monday, the walls around the Big Doors are modified to be able to flash different colors (although they generally only do this during the opening and remain light blue for most of the show), and an extra metallic strip is added between the walls and the doorframes; additionally, a blue backing with Goodson-Todman asterisks on it is placed behind the dollar sign between the Turntable and Door #1, and the dollar sign itself is also lit up blue. As premiere week was taped out of order, this change only applies to this week for the time being.
  • On Monday, the wall on the back of the Turntable becomes blue, with fireworks and Goodson-Todman asterisks painted on it.
  • On Monday, the Turntable carpet is replaced by a blue lit floor with white lighting on the fronts of the stairs; the turntable itself is solid white. Again, as this week was taped out of order, this change initially only applies to these five shows.
  • Beginning on Monday, most shows have two models -- one a random person ranging from a standard model to various celebrities, and the other one of the regular Barker's Beauties.
  • For this season's first 47 shows, the only permanent Beauty to appear is Rachel.
  • Monday show features the debut of Do the Math.
  • As it was known at the time of taping that Monday's show would be aired out of order, Do the Math involves no lauguage indicative of it being the game's first playing.
  • Monday marks the debut of the fifth-generation Showcase podiums, best described as a cross between the color scheme of the fourth-generation podiums and the design of the second- and Barker-era third-generation podiums; the most notable change is the return of the Goodson-Todman asterisks, which were removed from the third-generation podiums after Bob retired. Again, as these shows were taped out of order, this change does not immediately affect shows beyond this week.
  • Unlike with previous prop updates, the Race Game Curtain is not immediately altered to reflect the new Showcase podiums.
  • On Monday, Jennifer Mullin joins the staff as a second executive producer.
  • On Monday, Drew's sign-off includes an edited-in "recap" of Big Money events later in the week, reflecting that fact that the show was broadcast on a Friday.
  • In Tuesday's Cliff Hangers, the cash prize is displayed on a video screen behind Door #3, accompanied by a shorter version of Pay the Rent's intro cue.
  • In Tuesday's Cliff Hangers, the mountain climber is holding a sack full of money, as is his graphical counterpart.
  • In Tuesday's Cliff Hangers, the mountain climber starts on 1 instead of 0, as moving from 0 to 25 would have resulted in the contestant losing all of the money without the mountain climber falling off the cliff; this (probably inadvertently) has the side effect of making the game slightly easier to outright lose.
  • Beginning on Tuesday, presumably as a side effect of a new audio system at the show, "On the Franches Mountains" starts over in Cliff Hangers every time the mountain climber begins to move.
  • Beginning on Tuesday, the price reveal in That's Too Much! is split-screened with a shot of where the contestant stopped.
  • On all of this week's shows except for Monday (which was broadcast on a Friday), a plug for Big Money Week occurs at the end of the second Showcase Showdown.
  • Beginning on Thursday, George always handles one of the price tags in Most Expen$ive.
  • Beginning on Friday, George always handles one side of Swap Meet.
  • On Friday, after the Showcase, Drew mentions giving away $100,000 in 1/2 Off "yesterday" and offering $250,000 "tomorrow;" this actually refers to Wednesday and Tuesday, respectively.

Week 2 (1,642 – 643xK): September 23-27

  • Originally scheduled for September 30-October 4.
  • As the first episode of the season to be broadcast, Monday's show serves as the ceremonial season premiere; as such, it also includes several semi-incorrect references to it being the first show of the season.
  • On Monday, the Big Wheel graphic in the opening is replaced with the color array on the logo seen during the mid-show bumper.
  • Monday's opening ends with the semi-inaccurate, "You are the first four contestants as we kick off Season 42 of The Price Is Right!"
  • On Monday, an Emmy statuette is placed on the dollar sign statue in the opening and before the Showcase.
  • On this week's shows, "42 Years" signs adorn the dollar signs between the Big Doors.
  • On this week of shows, which was taped earlier than Week 1, the walls around the Big Doors have the same pattern as the back of the Turntable, and the previous appearance of dollar sign and its surroundings between the Turntable and Door #1 return; these designs alternate with the flashing walls and illuminated dollar sign seen last week until all of the season's early tapings air.
  • On Monday, the Turntable returns to its carpeted appearance, and the fourth-generation Showcase podiums return; these also alternate with the lit floor and the fifth generation podiums until the early tapedates have all passed.
  • Monday show features the first taped playing and ceremonial debut of Do the Math.
  • On Monday, an extra PriceIsRight.com plug occurs after Do the Math, with Drew asking viewers to visit the site to give their opinions of the game.
  • Based on a picture from CBS.com showing what appears to be the aftermath of a spin that did not go all the way around accidentally being counted (something that was not seen on the air), part of Monday's first Showcase Showdown is believed to have been scrapped and redone.
  • On Monday, the backs of Secret "X"'s Xs go back to being red.
  • On Friday, in celebration of Plinko's 30th anniversary (which actually occurred several months earlier, on January 3), all six pricing games are Plinko.
  • On Friday, in an effort to maintain the usual prize structure of a standard episode, various prizes are placed on the Plinko board during most of its playings:
    • The first game is a standard game of Plinko.
    • The second game is for $40,000 and a car, with a "CAR" slot replacing the $10,000 slot until it is hit. No money graphic appears in the intro for this playing.
    • The third game serves as a two-prize game, with "ATV" and "HOCKEY TABLE" slots replacing the $1,000 slots until they are hit. Paradoxically, the game cannot be won if either of these prizes is hit.
    • The fourth game is for $40,000 and a car, with an "SUV" slot replacing the $10,000 slot until it is hit. No money graphic appears in the intro for this playing.
    • The fifth game is for $40,000 and a trip to London, with a "LONDON" slot replacing the $10,000 slot until it is hit. No money graphic appears in the intro for this playing.
    • The sixth game serves as a two-prize game, with "ELLIPTICAL TRAINER" and "COMPUTER" slots replacing the $1,000 slots until they are hit. Paradoxically, the game cannot be won if either of these prize is hit.
  • The prizes in Friday's Plinkos are placed behind Door #3; the small prizes podiums are brought out from the left and right one at a time in these playings, with no more than two of them onstage at once.
  • Friday is the only time in the show's history that one pricing game has been played multiple times in a single episode; it is also the first show ever with six cash games, as well as the only show with six small prize games.
  • On Friday, the text "30 years of Plinko" appears at the base of the logo on Door #4; oddly, this text is not present during the opening.
  • On Friday, no grocery product or real car games were played.

Week 3 (1,643 – 644xK): September 30-October 4

  • Originally scheduled for October 7-11.
  • On Monday, Check-Out is played for a car.
  • On Monday, contestant Jared thanks Aaron Paul for "showing him how to get here" after playing 1 Right Price; Paul was a contestant on January 3, 2000, long before he became famous.
  • Tuesday's show is themed around Breast Cancer Awareness Month; everyone in the audience has had their life affected by breast cancer in some way. As such, several things about this episode are different than usual:
    • The logo on Door #4 is the Barker logo with a pink ribbon behind it.
    • The opening ends with, "You are the first four contestants as we support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month on The Price Is Right!"
    • The stairs on the Turntable are pink.
    • The Contestants' Row displays have pink ribbons on them until the bids appear.
    • The dollar sign between the Turntable and Door #1 is pink and has a pink ribbon on it.
    • The background on George's podium and its dollar sign are both different shades of pink; the same holds true of his calldown window and its dollar sign.
    • All of the Items up for Bids are from companies that donate part of their profits to breast cancer research.
    • The PriceIsRight.com graphics are pink.
    • The Big Wheel's split-screen separators are pink.
    • Cover Up's "wrong price" is five pink ribbons.
    • The displays on the Showcase podiums are pink.
    • After the last commercial, Drew and George announce that everyone in the audience will also receive a charm necklace with a pink ribbon design on it from Helen Ficalora; this also serves as a PriceIsRight.com plug, as Drew instructs viewers to visit the website for chances to win both one of said necklaces and the bag from the fifth Item up for Bids.
  • On Tuesday, which was taped out of order, the new Big Door walls, Turntable, and Showcase podiums are present.
  • On Tuesday, the guest Barker's Beauty is E! News anchor Giuliana Rancic, herself a survivor of breast cancer; she also helps to present the second showcase.
  • On Tuesday, Drew semi-inaccurately states that it is "the start of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month."
  • On Tuesday, the remix of The Bean Stalker resurfaces; it is used occasionally for cars from this point onward.
  • On Tuesday, everyone in the audience receives a bag from the collection used as the fifth Item up for Bids.
  • On Wednesday, with only two Barker's Beauties present, George handles the right side of Swap Meet.
  • On Thursday, an unidentified contestant was disqualified after the taping when it was discovered that he or she was ineligible.
  • After Friday's Showcase, due to episodes being broadcast out of order, Drew plugs Week 5's Publishers Clearing House event as starting "on Monday."

Week 4 (1,644 – 645xK): October 21-24, November 4

  • Originally scheduled for October 14-18.
  • Originally rescheduled for October 21-25.
  • On Monday, the opening graphic of the Big Wheel returns permanently.
  • On most shows this week, the Big Door walls, Turntable, and Showcase podiums have their Week 2 appearances; their illuminated forms are present on Friday, which was taped out of order.
  • On Monday, contestant Sandra reveals to Drew that she had previously appeared on the show in 1984; during Drew's sign-off, clips are shown of her winning Lucky Seven on her first episode.
  • On Monday, 4-digit Squeeze Play is accidentally played with the dollar sign from 5-digit Squeeze Play, resulting in a noticeable blank spot to the left of the contestant's bid.
  • Beginning on Tuesday, Master Key's first two prizes are stationed in front of Door #2, and the car is not revealed until they have both been described.
  • On Wednesday, Switcheroo's "think" cue starts over on the contestant's second turn, presumably as a result of the show's new, automated sound system.
  • On Friday, which was taped out of order, "On the Franches Mountains" behaves normally during Cliff Hangers.

Week 5 (1,645 – 646xK): October 7-11

  • Originally scheduled for October 21-25.
  • This week's show use the illuminated Turntable, Big Door borders, and Showcase podiums.
  • Each day this week, the first contestant to win a pricing game receives a bonus of $20,000 from Publishers Clearing House; this bonus counts toward the contestant's total winnings for placement in the Showcase Showdown and the Showcase. The winners of the jackpot are presented a check by the Prize Patrol at the end of their game. If all six games are lost, the money is awarded to the winner of the Showcase; it is not known what happens if there are six losses and a double overbid.
  • This week, the guest Barker's Beauty is Melissa Rycroft, who also helps to present Monday's first showcase.
  • A of Monday, the split-screen shot is no longer used in Hole in One.
  • On Thursday, Check Game is accidentally played with a Season 41 check.
  • On Friday's Showcase, due to episodes being broadcast out of order, Drew plugs Week 1's "Big Money" event as being "next week."

Week 6 (1,646 – 647xK): October 29, 28, 30, 31, November 1

  • Originally scheduled for October 28-November 1.
  • On most shows this week, the Big Door walls, Turntable, and Showcase podiums have their Week 2 appearances; their illuminated forms are present on Thursday, which was taped out of order.
  • On Monday, Drew fails to get the Big Wheel all the way around while helping a contestant spin.
  • Thursday's show is themed around Halloween, with the set and the show itself taking on the guise of a haunted house and graveyard. This results in a number of changes specific to this episode:
    • Lightning strikes as the logo appears at the top of the show.
    • Door #4 displays a scene of a haunted house and is adorned with dark curtains.
    • A black sky filled with stars takes the place of the audience curtains.
    • The opening uses a theme from The Phantom of the Opera and the spooky version of the TPIR theme from Season 38 instead of "Walking" and the regular theme.
    • Many members of the audience are dressed in Halloween costumes.
    • George announces the show in a faux-Dracula accent; Drew also hosts this way, although inconsistently.
    • The opening spiel is, "Mwahahahahaha! Here it comes! From the haunted halls of CBS Television City in Howlywood, it's The Price Is Right!"
    • The Contestants' Row displays show jack-o-lanterns, with animated spiders crawling across their orange-list surroundings; bids in a bloody font, along with the displays' normal colors, appear on the screens in the wake of a wave of bats.
    • The opening ends with, "You are the first four contestants on this spooky Halloween episode of The Price Is Right!"
    • The logo at the end of the opening is backed by a full moon with bats flying out from behind it.
    • George introduces Drew as, "Your host, Count Drewcula himself, Drew Scary!"
    • While Door #2 opens as usual at the end of the opening, Drew does not actually come through it, instead being lowered from the ceiling as though descending from flight while lightning strikes.
    • Everyone in the cast wears a Halloween costume: Drew is Dracula, George is a disembodied head and set of hands, and the Barker's Beauties and the pages are zombies. George's beheaded body (which, strangely, still has hands) also models the third Item up for Bids.
    • The stairs on the Turntable and the dollar sign between it and Door #1 are lit up orange.
    • The lights are the audience are large, orange bulbs.
    • Spider webs are lit up around the Big Doors.
    • Every pricing game is temporarily altered in some way:
      • Switch? is renamed "Witch?" and has witch heads on the podiums instead of question marks.
      • Lucky $even is renamed "Yucky $even"; ooze drips down the board, which appears to be inhabited by demons.
      • In Punch a Bunch, hands reach out of the Punchboard to give Drew the slips.
      • Rat Race is renamed "Bat Race"; bat wings are attached to the wind-up rats, and the rat racer is costumed as a bat.
      • In Squeeze Play, George's head appears behind the removed number and is supposedly squeezed into the price.
      • Cliff Hangers is decorated as a graveyard, and the mountain climber is dressed as the grim reaper (as is his graphic).
    • Geoff Peterson, the robot skeleton sidekick from The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, drives out the car in Lucky $even and calls down the seventh contestant.
    • While coming out of commercial for Act 3, Drew is nowhere to be found; he eventually walks out of a coffin that has spun around on the Turntable.
    • George is not shown calling the sixth contestant; Geoff Peterson, however, is shown calling the seventh contestant.
    • The logo does not appear during the mid-show bumper.
    • The Showcase podiums are decorated as gravestones; for the first time since the end of Season 37, they are not identical.
    • After the last commercial, Drew and George announce that everyone in the audience will receive two tickets to the "Knott's Scary Farm" event at Knott's Berry Farm; this also serves as a PriceIsRight.com plug, as George urges viewers to visit the website for a chance to win some of said tickets.
    • The PriceIsRight.com graphics are orange and use a bloody font.
    • Lightning strikes as Drew signs off.
  • On Thursday, three small prize games are played.
  • On Thursday, which was taped out of order, "On the Franches Mountains" behaves normally during Cliff Hangers.

Week 7 (1,647 – 648xK): October 25, November 5-6, December 4, November 7

  • Originally scheduled for November 4-8.
  • Originally rescheduled for October 25, November 5-8.
  • On Monday, everyone in the audience is a teacher. This results in a number of changes specific to this episode:
    • The episode begins with a promo for itself.
    • The dollar signs by George's podium and between the Turntable and Door #1 have an apple with the word "Teachers" attached to them.
    • Door #4 displays a chalkboard with the logo written on it; behind the chalkboard is a green field with starburst patterns.
    • The logo on Door #4 is shaped into an apple and has the word "Teachers" at its base.
    • The opening ends with, "You are the first four contestants as we salute teachers on The Price Is Right!"
    • George introduces Drew as, "Your principal, Drew Carey!"
    • The Contestants' Row displays all look like green chalkboards, with the logo from Door #4 appearing on them while they are not displaying bids. The bids themselves are, oddly enough, erased onto the displays, appearing in a chalk-esque font; the displays' normal colors also appear in the wake of the eraser animation.
    • The displays on the Showcase podiums also take on a chalkboard-like appearance, although they change immediately to their normal appearance when a bid lights up.
  • On Monday, the illuminated Big Doors, Turntable, and Showcase podiums first seen on the season premiere become permanent.
  • On Tuesday only, the lights on the Turntable stairs flash during the opening.
  • On Tuesday only, the Showcase winner's podium flashes during the credits.

Week 8 (1,648 – 649xK): November 11-15

  • Monday's show begins with a promo for itself.
  • Monday's show is themed around Veterans' Day. As such, a number of things on the episode are slightly different than usual:
    • Everyone in the audience is a veteran.
    • Door #4 shows the words "Veterans" over several large stars and a blue field of smaller stars; the background is also shown on the Contestants' Row displays while there are no bids on them.
    • Door #4 is flanked by the words "Heroism," "Courage," "Bravery," and "Honor."
    • The light strips around the audience and the Big Doors cascade red, white, and blue during the opening and calldowns.
    • Monday's opening ends with, "You are the first four contestants as we salute our nation's veterans on The Price Is Right!"
    • The set is decorated for Veterans' Day.
    • The dollar sign between the Turntable and Door #1 is red.
    • The Turntable stairs are lit up red, white, and blue, and its walls are lit up white and blue; the walls cascade red, white, and blue after the Showcase.
    • George's plasma screen shows a red dollar sign over a blue field with white stars; the podium itself is lit up red, white, and blue.
    • After the last commercial, Drew and George announce that everyone in the audience will receive a $100 gift card from AAFES.
    • Stars and Stripes Forever plays during the credits.
  • In Monday's Dice Game, with the display for the ten thousands digit malfunctioning, a "1" from Cover Up is taped to the board to show the first number in the price.
  • On Tuesday, Hi Lo is played for a car.
  • On Tuesday, with only two Beauties present, George handles the right side of Swap Meet.
  • In Friday's Pick-a-Number, all of the numbers' color schemes are the opposite of what they usually are.
  • On Friday, after the Showcase, Drew plugs next week's "Dream Car Week" theme.

Week 9 (1,649 – 650xK): November 22, 18, 20, 21, 19

  • Originally scheduled for November 18-22.
  • This week of shows is billed as "Dream Car Week;" one pricing game on each episode offers a car that would normally only appear in Golden Road:
    • On Monday, 6-digit 3 Strikes is played for an Audi.
    • On Tuesday, Temptation is played for a Porsche.
    • On Wednesday, Golden Road itself is played for a 6-digit Mercedes.
    • On Thursday, Lucky $even is played for a Jaguar.
    • On Friday, Hole in One is played for a BMW convertible.
  • On Tuesday, presumably due to an editing mistake, the Top Winner's Showcase podium is visible behind Drew during part of the first Item up for Bids.
  • By Thursday, a shorter button has been installed on Bonkers, presumably to accommodate the show's new, automated sound effects system.
  • On Friday, after the Showcase, Drew reminds viewers that Dream Car Week "continues tomorrow;" this reflects the fact that the episode was aired on a Tuesday.

Week 10 (1,650 – 651xK): November 25-27, December 2

  • Originally scheduled for November 25-28.
  • Only four shows; no Friday episode.
  • Despite this week having a Thursday show, Wednesday's episode is a Thanksgiving special, with the following episode being broadcast the next Monday. As a result of the theme, several things about the episode are different than usual:
    • The set is decorated for Thanksgiving.
    • Door #4's background is falling leaves; the logo itself appears on the front of a turkey, with "Happy Thanksgiving" to its right. The leaves background also appears on George's plasma screen, and the logo appears on the Showcase podiums.
    • The opening ends with, "You are the first four contestants as we celebrate Thanksgiving on The Price Is Right!"
    • The Contestants' Row displays show leaves falling on a blue background while they are not in use; when bids are made, more leaves fly in front the left, leaving the bids and the normal colors in their wake.
    • The Turntable wall and stairs show various fall colors, as do George's podium and the dollar sign between the Turntable and Door #1.
    • Drew wears a pilgrim hat on Punch a Bunch's $25,000 bill.
    • The "Happy Thanksgiving" logo appears during every commercial outro and the closed-captioning plugs, albeit with the extra text at the bottom and without the turkey.
    • Cover Up's "wrong price" is various Thanksgiving food items.
  • On Wednesday, Amber returns to the Barker's Beauty rotation.
  • Wednesday is the first show of the season on which both of the models are permanent Barker's Beauties; guest Beauties begin to appear somewhat more sporadically after this episode.
  • On Wednesday, celebrity chef Marcela Valladolid appears as a guest, helping to present Punch a Bunch and the Showcase. Marcela had previously been a contestant on November 29, 2004, and clips of her coming on down and winning That's Too Much! are shown at the beginning of Punch a Bunch; Drew invites viewers to visit PriceIsRight.com to see the entire clip of her appearance.
  • Beginning on Wednesday, a single column of the light border is used as a separator in Switch?'s split-screen shot.
  • On Wednesday, George's calldown window is redesigned to mimic the light border, with a blue dollar sign and cascading pinks and blues behind the lights.
  • On Wednesday, during the last commercial, everyone in the audience receives two Hickory Farms gift boxes; this also serves as a PriceIsRight.com plug, as George encourages viewers to visit the website for a chance to win a pair of said gift boxes.
  • On Wednesday, the pink light border replaces the Season 40 light border in plasma screen graphics; due to shows being taped out of order, this does not immediately become a permanent change, although it is present on Thursday.
  • Thursday's show, despite being a Thursday show, is broadcast on and themed around Cyber Monday. As a result of the theme, several things about the episode are different than usual:
    • A "Cyber Monday" price tag graphic similar to the "Bargain Game" logo is attached to the TPIR logo on Door #4; this logo also appears during every commercial outro and the closed-captioning plugs.
    • Viewers are encouraged to visit PriceIsRight.com during the show for chances to win all six Items up for Bids.
    • The copy for the prizes in Cliff Hangers includes plugs for Cyber Monday deals at Ebates.com; additionally, at the end of the plugs, George announces that everyone in the audience will receive a $200 Ebates.com cash card and invites viewers to visit PriceIsRight.com for a chance to win one of said cash cards.
  • On Thursday, Rob returns to the Barker's Beauty rotation.

Week 11 (1,651 – 652xK): December 16-19, January 2

  • Originally scheduled for December 2-6.
  • Originally rescheduled for December 16-20.
  • Beginning on Monday and last presumably through December 24, the first Item up for Bids on each show is designated "the holiday gift idea of the day."
  • On Monday, Kevin Frasier and Thea Andrews of omg! Insider appear to present the first Item up for Bids, a barbecue, and give everyone in the audience a $250 gift certificate for Omaha Steaks; this also serves as a PriceIsRight.com plug, as George urges viewers to visit the website for a chance to win one of said gift certificates. Kevin and Thea also serve as Barker's Beauties throughout the episode, providing a now rare three-Beauty day, and present the second showcase. Additionally, Drew plugs Kevin's new show, Game Changers, after the third Item up for Bids.
  • On Monday, Squeeze Play is played for a car.
  • As of Tuesday, the inset of the contestant during Cliff Hangers shrinks from a full-screen shot, a la George's calldown window.
  • In Tuesday's Hole in One, Drew does not do an inspiration putt.
  • On Thursday, Entertainment Tonight's Nancy O'Dell appears as a guest Barker's Beauty; she also helps to present the first Item up for Bids and the second showcase, calls down the ninth contestant, and does George's spiel as Grand Game is being revealed.
  • On Thursday, everyone in the audience receives a waterproof camera presented alongside the first Item up for Bids, a non-waterproof camera; this also serves as a PriceIsRight.com plug, as Drew urges viewers to visit the website for a chance to win one of said waterproof cameras. Oddly, the first four contestants are instructed to bid on both of the cameras, even though the Item up for Bids is only one of them.
  • Friday's show features grandparents playing with one of their grandchildren.
  • On Friday, the word "Grandparents" appears at the base of the logo on Door #4; it is also attached to the dollar sign between the Turntable and Door #1.
  • Friday's opening ends with, "You are the first eight contestants as we celebrate grandparents on The Price Is Right!"
  • References to the "Holiday Gift Idea of the Day" are edited out of Friday's first Item up for Bids, presumably since the show was aired in January; despite this, it is still clearly staged as one.

Week 12 (1,652 – 653xK): December 9, 13, 11, 12, 10

  • Originally scheduled for December 9-13.
  • In celebration of Bob turning 90, all episodes this week include a pet adoption segment at the top of Act 3. As a result of this, George is not shown calling the sixth contestant this week.
  • On Monday, the Showcase podiums display the background from Door #4 instead of the usual dollar sign pattern.
  • The calldown window and associated graphics first seen on November 27 are present on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
  • On Wednesday, Gwendolyn returns to the Barker's Beauty rotation.
  • By Wednesday, the show has begun using a somewhat mangled remix of "The Cats."
  • On Thursday, his 90th birthday, Bob returns, doing the pet adoption segment, calling down the seventh contestant (complete with George's calldown window), and presenting the second showcase (as well as accepting the contestant's bid on it).

  • On Friday, after the Showcase, Drew plugs a week of social media-based episodes "next week;" this actually refers to Week 37, which was broadcast out of order.

Week 36 (1,676 – 677xK): June 9-12, May 16

  • Originally scheduled for June 2-6.
  • Originally rescheduled for June 9-13.
  • On Monday, snowboarder Amy Purdy appears as a guest Barker's Beauty; she also helps to present the second showcase.
  • On Monday, with three Beauties present, George does not model in Most Expen$ive.
  • In Tuesday's first Showcase Showdown, contestant Supei winds up her first spin so far, she ends up literally being spun off the ground with the Big Wheel. The incident is replayed in slow-motion while going to commercial after the Showcase Showdown.
  • On Thursday, Balance Game is played for a car.
  • On Friday, everyone in the audience is a firefighter. This results in some aspects of the episode being different than usual:
    • The logo on Door #4 has the word "Firefighters" at its base and is surrounded by a fire hydrant and a fire hose. This version of the logo also appears during every commercial outro.
    • The opening ends with, "You are the first four contestants as we salute firefighters on The Price Is Right!"
    • The Contestants' Row displays show a fire hat and fire axes against a metallic background; when contestants bid, a firetruck drives across the display, leaving the normal colors in its wake.
    • George introduces Drew with, "And now, here he is, the chief of this firehouse; it's Drew Carey!"
    • Drew enters by sliding down a fire pole behind Door #2; as he lands, the sirens from Danger Price sound.
    • Drew's entrance is backed by a firehouse interior instead of the Barker Wall.
    • George's display shows a red dollar sign against the same metallic background seen on Contestants' Row.
    • George's calldown window is red and yellow, and its dollar sign is red.
    • In Cliff Hangers, the mountain climber and his corresponding graphic are dressed as a firefighter.
    • After the last commercial, George announces that everyone in the audience will receive a two-night trip to Las Vegas; this also serves as a PriceIsRight.com plug, as he urges viewers to visit the website for a chance to win said trip.

Week 37 (1,677 – 678xK): June 2-6

  • Originally scheduled for June 9-13.
  • This week is billed as "Socially Awesome Week," with each episode focusing on a different aspect of social media.
    • Monday's show is focused on Twitter; everyone in the audience is a follower of the show's Twitter account, and viewers are encouraged to tweet the show during the broadcast (and, in fact, all of the week's broadcasts) with the incentive that some of the tweets will appear on the air. The following things are different about this episode:
      • The fourth-generation Showcase podiums, repurposed as tweet stations for members of the audience, are positioned at the tops of the aisles in the audience.
      • George introduces Drew with, "And now, here's my Man-Crush Monday and Follow Friday, @DrewFromTV: It's Drew Carey!"
      • A dance number set to Rockin' Robin randomly breaks out after George describes the third Item up for Bids.
    • Tuesday's show is focused on Facebook and Pinterest; Drew sends viewers to the show's Pinterest page for a chance to win the prize package from Hi Lo. Additionally, a camera is attached to Drew's suit coat that takes a picture every 30 seconds during the taping, for eventual upload to PriceIsRight.com. Meanwhile, Rachel conducts a live chat with fans on Facebook during the show.
    • Wednesday's show is focused on YouTube; specifically, a behind-the-scenes simulcast streams on PriceIsRight.com during the show. Drew promos this as he walks to Door #2 at the top of the episode, eventually throwing to George as the normal opening begins. A number of unusual camera shots are also used during the course of the episode. Additionally, @PriceIsRight live tweets the show.
    • Thursday's show is focused on Instagram; the sixth contestant is one of two people who had won a contestant search contest on the site. A clip of the winner's Instagram video is played before the first Showcase Showdown; clips of other submissions are played before Act 5 and the second Showcase Showdown.
    • Friday's show is a "You Decide" episode, with various aspects of its makeup having been voted on by fans via Twitter, including:
      • The clothes worn by Barker's Beauties.
      • Whether the first game would be Plinko (the winner) or Cliff Hangers.
      • Which car to offer in Any Number.
      • Which outfit should serve as the Look of the Week in the third Item up for Bids.
      • Whether to show George in the control room or in the green room during the first closed-captioning plug.
      • Whether a dollar in a bonus spin in the first Showcase Showdown should be worth $35,000 (the winner) or a Mercedes.
      • Whether to show a high school picture of Rachel (the winner) or an embarrassing picture of George on the TV in the fourth Item up for Bids.
      • Whether to play Double Prices for an African safari (the winner), a trip to Aruba, or a trip to Spain.
      • Whether to make the sixth game a cash game (the winner) or a third car game.
      • Whether to show the audience dancing with hula hoops or doing the Macarena during the second closed-captioning plug.
      • Whether a bonus spin in the second Showcase Showdown should raise the value of the dollar to $35,000 (the winner) or raise the value of the green sections to $20,000.
      • Whether the second showcase should be about frequent guest Beauty Melissa Ordway's favorite things (the winner) or Abby Newman, her character on The Young and the Restless. (Melissa Ordway appears to help present the showcase.)
    • Also on Friday, Daniel Goddard appears wondering around the studio at several points throughout the episode; Drew urges viewers to tweet every time they spot him somewhere.
  • On this week's shows, the logo on Door #4 has the words "Socially Awkward" at its base, with "Awkward" scribbled out in pink marker and replaced with "Awesome!"; the logo is also flanked by TPIR-related Twitter handles. The logo also appears during every commercial outro.
  • On Thursday, before the sixth Item up for Bids, Drew and George take a selfie with, at the request of the readers of People magazine, the audience.
  • On Friday, two cash games are played.

Week 38 (1,678 – 679xK): June 16-20

Week 39 (1,679 – 680xK): June 27, 25, 26, July 4, August 15

  • Logically scheduled for June 23-25, July 3, August 15.
  • Originally rescheduled for June 23-25, July 4, August 15.
  • Season finale week; the delayed January 2 episode airs next Monday; summer reruns air from July 1 onward, with breaks for Thursday and Friday's shows.
  • Beginning on Tuesday, a slot machine win sound effect is heard after the price reveal when Card Game is won.
  • Thursday's show is themed around Independence Day. As such, the following aspects of it are different than usual:
    • Everyone in the audience is a member of the military.
    • The Star-Spangled Banner, performed by the Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band in the back of the audience, is played throughout the opening. The band also plays after every pricing game win; during the credits; and during every commercial outro, with the exception of the commercial during the Showcase, where the theme plays as usual.
    • The dollar sign statue in the opening has the text "4th of July" attached to it, as do the dollar signs between the Big Doors and the one on the Turntable wall; the text also appears at the base of the logos on Door #4 and on George's display (with said logo replacing said display's dollar sign). This version of the logo also appears during every commercial outro.
    • The set is decorated for Independence Day.
    • Door #4's background is a waving American flag with fireworks bursting in front of it; a similar background appears on George's display.
    • The light strips around the audience chase red, white, and blue throughout the opening, during contestant calldowns, during an announcement made after the final commercial (the details of which are provided below), and during the credits.
    • Contestants' ranks are announced as they are called on down.
    • The Contestants' Row displays show the same background seen on Door #4. The displays also have varying things in front of the flags: During the opening, they display red, white, and blue stars in their centers; after contestants come on down, their names are displayed; and nothing is displayed during the body of the show when a spot is unoccupied, leaving the background in full view. When contestants bid, the graphics are wiped away, being replaced with the normal colors.
      • Likely related to the contestants' names appearing on the Contestants' Row displays is the fact that no one in the audience has a name tag.
    • The opening ends with, "You are the first four contestants as we salute the military this 4th of July on The Price Is Right!"
    • George introduces Drew with, "And now, here's your host: The one, the only, Drew Carey!"
    • During Drew's opening, he is backed by the colorguard from Marine Aviation Logistic Squadron 11 and a set of American flag backdrops instead of the Barker Wall. As he comes through the doors, fireworks go off behind him.
    • The light strips around the Big Doors chase red, white, and blue throughout the opening and the credits; for much of the rest of the show, the strips around the Big Doors are red (on Door #1), white (on Door #3), and blue (on Door #2).
    • The dollar sign between the Turntable and Door #1 is red.
    • During the opening and the credits, the Turntable wall flashes red, white, and blue; for much of the rest of the show, it shows vertical stripes of those colors.
    • The Turntable steps are lit, from the top down, in red, white, and blue.
    • The Goodson-Todman asterisks in front of Contestants' Row are red, white, and blue.
    • George's usual calldown window is replaced with a version of Rod's original calldown window, displaying the background from Door #4 instead of plain white. Additionally, the window's dollar sign is blue.
    • Pay the Rent's house is decorated for Independence Day.
    • The Xs in Secret "X" have American flags on them; the flags are also present on the Xs on the small prize backdrops.
    • The X wipe in Secret "X" has a red, white, and blue border.
    • The leg of the Dice Game table is draped with bunting.
    • Similar to Contestants' Row, the contestants names are displayed on the Showcase podiums instead of the logo until they bid.
    • Before revealing the winner of the Showcase, Drew and George announce that everyone in the audience will receive a trip to Palm Springs; this also serves as a PriceIsRight.com plug, as George instructs viewers to visit the website for a chance to win said trip.
    • The credits begin with, "Special thanks to the United States Department of Defense."
  • Thursday's second showcase includes, as a bonus, an MLB package consisting of several tickets and various baseball paraphernalia; the contestants are presumably instructed off-air not to include this while bidding.
  • Friday's show is billed as a "back to school" episode; as such, the following aspects of it are different than usual:
    • Everyone in the audience is a college student.
    • The background on Door #4 is a tablet with various drawings scribbled on it; a similar background appears on George's display.
    • The TPIR logo on Door #4 and George's display appears to be scribbled onto the tablet background and has the text "Back to School" scribbled at its base. This logo also appears during every commercial outro.
    • The Contestants' Row displays show various drawings scribbled on a tablet; when contestants bid, these patterns are wiped away with as though they were being erased from a chalkboard, revealing the normal colors.
    • The opening ends with, "You are the first four contestants on a special back-to-school episode of The Price Is Right!"
    • George introduces Drew as "Your principal, Drew Carey!"
  • On Friday, everyone in the audience receives a latte machine, a portion of the fifth Item up for Bids; this also serves as a PriceIsRight.com plug, as George instructs viewers to visit the website for a chance to win one of said latte machines.
